Renault and Daewoo sign diesel agreement
France's Renault SA and South Korea's Daewoo Corp. have signed an agreement for Daewoo to buy engines from, and establish and engine licensee arrangement with, Renault. The agreement calls for Daewoo to buy 200,000 Renault diesel engines from 1998 through 2002 and establishes four licenses for Daewoo to build a variety of Renault gasoline and diesel engines. Daewoo will use the purchased engines for current vehicles and the licensed engines for new vehicles.
