New small diesel engine from Yanmar
As an alternative to gasoline engines in commercial mowers, turf equipment, welders, generators, chippers and industrial equipment, Yanmar has developed a new twin-cylinder diesel engine. The 2V78V is a vertical shaft 80° vee engine with a bore x stroke of 78 x 78.4 mm (3.07 x 3.09 in.) and an overall displacement of 0.749 L (45.7 cu.in.). The engine utilizes indirect injection, with the fuel injection pump and injector nozzles built in-house by Yanmar.
The engine was introduced to North America at the recent OPEI Lawn & Garden Expo 97 in Louisville, Ky., by Yanmar Diesel America Corp. and is available in ratings from 16.1 to 20 hp at operating speeds from 2800 to 3600 rpm.
