Nissan will build diesel engines in Spain

Nissan Motor Co. plans to manufacture a new direct injection diesel engine and a new transmission at its Spanish operations, Nissan Motor Iberica SA (NMISA).
Expected to begin production in 2000, the Spanish facility is capable of manufacturing 80,000 engines and 100,000 transmissions annually. The engines and transmissions are expected to be used in NMISA-built vehicles as well as exported for use in vehicles built at Nissan Motor (UK) Ltd.
