Johnson Matthey to supply catalysts for Ballard
27 October 1998
Ballard Power Systems announced that it has signed a multi year agreement with Johnson Matthey for a joint development and supply of catalysts and catalyst containing products for Ballard Fuel Cells. The agreement follows a collaboration begun in 1992 for the development of the platinum catalysts and catalysed electrodes used in Ballard Fuel Cells.
Johnson Matthey is a manufacturer of catalysts and pollution control systems, as well as pharmaceutical compounds, precious metals, and specialty chemicals.
Ballard Power Systems is a developer of proton exchange membrane (PEM) fuel cell power systems. The Ballard Fuel Cell is being developed as a zero-emission engine that converts natural gas, methanol, gasoline, or hydrogen fuel into electricity without combustion.
