US MSHA scheduling seminars on DPM rules
12 July 2001
The US Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) has scheduled a series of informational, one-day outreach seminars on diesel particulate rules for underground metal and nonmetal mines. The seminars will take place between July 23 and 23 August 2001, at different locations throughout the US.
The final rule on diesel particulate matter (DPM) levels in underground metal and nonmetal mines went into effect on 5 July 2001. The meetings will address enforcement issues and answer questions about provisions of the rule including fueling practices, maintenance, engine requirements, training and record keeping. Registration is not required.
Mine operators, including contractors, who use diesel equipment underground, miners, and miners’ representatives will benefit from attending the seminars.
