CleanAir receives orders for retrofit programs
11 December 2001
Santa Fe, NM-based CleanAIR Systems, Inc. announced contract awards in two heavy-duty retrofit programs: the Everett Clean Diesel School Bus Retrofit Project and the Diesel Demonstration Project in Las Vegas, NV.
CleanAIR will supply its emission control products for a number of shool buses in Everett, WA. Some buses will be equipped with PERMIT™ catalyzed diesel particulate filters, while others with ASSURE™ catalytic converters. The buses will be fueled with ultra low sulfur fuel. The buses are expected to be retrofitted by the end of 2001.
Funding the Everett Clean Diesel School Bus Retrofit Project is provided through a grant received from the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The program is part of the Puget Sound retrofit initiative, announced in July, which ultimately targets 5,000 diesel retrofits. The Everett program, conducted under the EPA Voluntary Diesel Retrofit Program, targets 50-65 school buses.
In Nevada, CleanAIR was awarded a contract to retrofit more than 50 heavy-duty diesel construction vehicles and equipment with catalytic mufflers incorporating the company’s ASSURE™ diesel oxidation catalysts. The Diesel Demonstration Project, sponsored by the Clark County Department of Air Quality, was created as an initiative toward reducing diesel emissions in the Las Vegas Valley area of Nevada.
