Peus Systems acquired by AVL, merged with Pierburg

AVL List GmbH announced an enlargement of its emission business by acquisition of PEUS Systems. Effective retrospectively from January 2004, PEUS Systems GmbH was merged with the emissions division of Pierburg Instruments GmbH in Germany—a subsidiary of Graz, Austria-based AVL. This enlargement of AVL’s emissions business will increase turnover to around €60 million and the market share to 30%.
PEUS SystemsGmbH—with facilities in Gaggenau, Eisenberg and Bruchsal (Germany) as well as in Ann Arbor (Michigan, USA)—is an international supplier of emission measurement technology, automation and test bed equipment for the automobile industry. With a workforce of 70 the company has a turnover of €14 million. PEUS brings product and system automation expertise in the field of emission measurement technology, which complements the technological capabilities of AVL and Pierburg.
With 2,850 employees worldwide, AVL is the world’s largest privately-owned and independent company for the development of powertrain systems with combustion engines as well as instrumentation and test systems. Turnover in 2002 was €401 million. AVL acquired Pierburg Instruments in 2001.
