International to enter Class 8 truck engine market
17 February 2005
International Truck and Engine Corporation announced that it is working to develop and produce International engines in the 11- to 13-liter range to be offered exclusively in International Class 8 highway tractors and severe service trucks starting in fall 2007.
The engines will be a product of the strategic agreement between International and MAN Nutzfahrzeuge to collaborate on development and manufacturing of components and systems for commercial trucks.
International is currently offering and will continue to offer Cummins and Caterpillar engines in its heavy vehicles. International said it would continue collaborating with Cummins on engine component development and sourcing.
International currently manufactures engines used in its medium-duty trucks and school buses.
