Finnkatalyt wins Hong Kong retrofit contract
14 April 2005
Finland’s Finnkatalyt Ltd. announced it has been selected to be the sole supplier in a diesel retrofit project in Hong Kong that covers pre-Euro diesel vehicles. Finnkatalyt’s catalytic converters passed the technical requirements of 35% PM emission reduction and white smoke minimization.
An estimated 3,300 vehicles qualify for the project, said Finnkatalyt. The catalysts will be installed by Finnkatalyt’s Hong Kong-based partner Eco Tek Ltd. The retrofit is scheduled to start in May 2005, and to be completed in the beginning of 2006.
This retrofit program—which is an extension of previous retrofit projects in the Hong Kong Region—targets vehicles the use of which includes long idling periods, such as concrete mixers, cranes, and emergency vehicles. One of the emission problems has been white smoke emitted during the idling periods.
Since 2002, Finnkatalyt has supplied emission control devices for two retrofit Hong Kong retrofit projects.
