Nett Technologies announces Tier 4 retrofit system for commercial harbor craft
15 July 2021
Nett Technologies, a Mississauga, Canada, based emission control manufacturer, announced a Tier 4 retrofit emission control kit for commercial harbor craft vessels. The BlueMAX™ NOVA 320 system can be used by vessel owners as the Best Available Control Technology (BACT) to comply with the California Air Resources Board (CARB) commercial harbor craft (CHC) regulation.
The system has been developed in partnership with Pacific Marine Group, a San Diego based tug boat fleet operator. A BlueMAX™ NOVA 320 system has been installed on a 2000 hp tugboat operated along California coast. The testing is being conducted under the Technology Advancement Program (TAP) sponsored by the Ports of Long Beach and Los Angeles.
The BlueMAX™ NOVA 320 system includes a diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC), an active diesel particulate filter (DPF), and an SCR catalyst. The system provides 95% NOx and 95-99% PM reduction, according to the company. The DPF is automatically regenerated via diesel fuel injection upstream of the DOC.
The BlueMAX™ NOVA 320 has been adapted from the CARB verified BlueMAX™ NOVA 300e system for stationary diesel engines.
