Call for participation: MDEC Mining Vehicle Powertrain Conference

17 September 2024

The MDEC Mining Vehicle Powertrain Conference (MVPC)—previously called the Mining Diesel Emissions Conference—invites you to participate and to submit a presentation. The MVPC Conference provides a global forum for the dissemination of the scientific and technologically advanced research to reduce and control diesel emissions in the mining workplace environment, and to support the development of alternative powertrain technologies.

Under the new name and formula, first introduced in 2023, the scope of the event has been expanded to cover the decarbonization of mining vehicle fleets and the deployment of electric vehicles (EV) and other low-carbon powertrains in underground mines.

The Conference will be held on October 22-23, 2024 in Sudbury, Ontario, Canada. Learn more: Mining Vehicle Powertrain Conference

The Conference is attended by North American and global mining industry professionals—including managers; health, safety, and environmental professionals; regulators; researchers; manufacturers of diesel engines, equipment, and aftertreatment technologies and EV technologies that aid in controlling emissions and improving air quality in underground mines.

The MVPC invites presentation abstracts on the following topics, with emphasis on health effects, diesel, and alternative energy.

  1. Diesel engines and machines
  2. Emission control technologies
  3. Electric vehicle powertrains
  4. Regulatory and health issues
  5. Laboratory and field studies
  6. Instrumentation and monitoring

The MVPC Conference includes an exhibition that provides an opportunity to market products and services to underground mobile equipment operators.

Continuous Professional Development (CPD) Program. The Board of Canadian Registered Safety Professionals (BCRSP) is awarding CPD points for this event. Please see the BCRSP web site for CPD point criteria.
