Deutz acquires 50% of HJS Emission Technology

9 December 2024

Deutz AG announced it acquired a stake in HJS Emission Technology, a specialist in exhaust gas aftertreatment. Both parties signed an agreement in November, under which Deutz will acquire 50% of the shares in HJS. The transaction is expected to close at the beginning of 2025. The financial terms were not disclosed.

Based in Menden/Sauerland, Germany, HJS Emission Technology is a medium-sized family business, employing about 300 workers, with years of experience and competence in the field of exhaust gas aftertreatment, particularly with diesel engines. Deutz will consolidate the company within its own group.

“The combustion engine is not a discontinued technology. This is certainly true for applications where machines are constantly in use and move large loads. The technology will therefore continue to be of strategic importance to us in the future,” said Deutz CEO Dr. Sebastian C. Schulte.

The acquisition is part of Deutz consolidation plan for the production of internal combustion engines. In the future, a large part of exhaust gas aftertreatment components for Deutz engines will be supplied from its own group.
