Scania unveils Super 11 heavy-duty diesel engine
27 May 2025
Scania has unveiled the newest addition to its Super engine line—the new Super 11-liter heavy-duty diesel engine.
Positioned to fit between the 9- and 13-liter diesel units, the new 11-liter, 5-cylinder engine is up to 85 kg lighter than the Super 13-liter and up to 7% more fuel efficient than the 9-liter equivalent, according to Scania.

Available in three power options—350 hp (1,800 Nm), 390 hp (2,000 Nm) and 430 hp (2,200 Nm)—the new Super engine is intended for a range of applications, from urban logistics to regional haulage. The engine is available in versions meeting Euro IV, Euro V, or Euro VI emission standards.
The Super 11-liter features several improvements, with up to 85% of its components shared with the Super 13-liter engine. The new engine is equipped with Scania’s cam phaser technology for variable valve timing, which allows for real-time engine thermal management and improved combustion performance.
The engine also features new engine software, balance shafts for reduced vibration, and a robust engine brake, which offers up to 344 kW through Scania’s Variable Valve Brake (VVB) system. Scania’s patented “turbo dosing” system improves AdBlue usage and further enhances engine efficiency.
The new 11-liter engine is compatible with HVO fuel, while the 390 hp and 430 hp can be prepared for use with FAME.
The Super 11-liter engine will be available for purchase from June 2025.
