Cummins announces X10 mid-bore diesel engine
3 March 2025
Cummins announced the X10 mid-bore heavy-duty diesel engine designed for heavy- and medium-duty applications. The X10 will replace both the L9 and X12 engines. The engine is part of the Cummins HELM™ platforms, alongside the X15 and B Series. Cummins expects to launch the X10 in 2027, one year later than originally planned.
Cummins X10 provides two rating sets. For heavy-duty applications, the X10 delivers up to 450 hp and 1,650 lb-ft of torque. For applications requiring a medium-duty package, the X10 delivers ratings up to 380 hp and 1,250 lb-ft of torque. The engine boasts a class-leading power-to-weight ratio, according to Cummins.
For those who need to operate auxiliary equipment such as vocational truck customers, the X10 provides increased power take-off (PTO) capability of 590 lb-ft continuous and up to 664 lb-ft.
The X10 will come equipped with Cummins’ digital technologies such as connectivity and instant access to a range of features and capabilities through Acumen®, Cummins’ smart computing hardware. Customers can leverage digital tools that enhance driver experience, including predictive capabilities (prognostics) and advanced over-the-air updates.
The engine pairs with transmission options including fully integrated powertrain offerings from the Eaton Cummins Joint Venture.
