China Engine Test Cycle (CETC)
CETC time-speed-torque data points
The China engine test cycle (中国发动机试验工况) has been developed by the China Automotive Technology & Research Center (CATARC) and released as a draft national standard GB/T38146.3 (2020-03-02), China Automobile Driving Conditions Part 3: Engines. The test, intended for the determination of fuel economy and emissions from vehicles with a total mass above 3500 kg, defines two engine dynamometer test cycles for heavy-duty engines:
- China engine steady-state test cycle (中国发动机稳态试验工况), and
- China engine transient test cycle (中国发动机瞬态试验工况).
The China engine steady-state test defines 13 engine speed and load modes, as well as the time in seconds to be spent at stable operation for each mode, Table 1.
Mode | Normalized Speed, % | Load, % | Time, s |
---|---|---|---|
1 | 0 | 0 | 250 |
2 | 30 | 25 | 195 |
3 | 40 | 15 | 385 |
4 | 40 | 75 | 120 |
5 | 45 | 20 | 50 |
6 | 45 | 35 | 145 |
7 | 50 | 30 | 60 |
8 | 50 | 100 | 50 |
9 | 55 | 15 | 60 |
10 | 55 | 50 | 155 |
11 | 55 | 75 | 75 |
12 | 60 | 10 | 145 |
13 | 0 | 0 | 110 |
The engine transient test cycle is defined by a set of normalized engine speed and load points. The duration of the test cycle is 1800 s, Figure 1.
Speed and torque values are normalized. Negative torque values are arbitrary representation of closed rack motoring.
