China Light-Duty Vehicle Test Cycle (CLTC)
Time-speed data points: CLTC-P | CLTC-C
China light-duty vehicle test cycle (CLTC) is a part of the China automotive test cycle (CATC) developed by the China Automotive Technology & Research Center (CATARC) to replace European testing procedures for fuel/energy consumption and emissions. The CLTC is standardized by the national standard GB/T38146.1-2019, China Automotive Test Cycle Part 1: Light Vehicles, which defines two chassis dynamometer driving cycles, one for passenger cars and another for light commercial vehicles:
- CLTC-P: China light-duty vehicle test cycle-passenger cars (乘用车行驶工况), and
- CLTC-C: China light-duty vehicle test cycle-commercial vehicles (轻型商用车行驶工况)
The two test cycles are shown in the following figures. Each test includes three phases of (1) slow, (2) medium, and (3) fast driving.
Selected characteristics of the test cycles are listed in Table 1. The CLTC has a low average speed and frequent accelerations and decelerations. As a result, the CLTC’s fuel consumption is much higher than that of the NEDC and WLTC cycles [4984].
